Dams & Sires

Below are the pictures and links to our sires' and dams' health testing results(click name icon). We find that having less dogs works better for us, so some of the sires we use in our breeding program do not belong to us and live with their owners. All poodles used in our breeding program are required to have health testing done, or be clear by parentage.

In the past couple of years our health tested has been switch to Embark DNA, and we only have hard copies of prior 'Wisdom Panel'. Some of the Sires that are not ours belong in the 'Wisdom Panel' group and a copy can be provided by request. Our philosophy is to always are on the side of caution, and what will be best for both breed diversity and welfare. Below is further information about health testing specific information.

About DNA Testing

My Standard Poodles are purebred not because they have "papers," they are purebred because they have only ever had purebred standard poodles in their lineage. "Papers" can NOT guarantee the puppy you are buying is purebred, but a DNA test can. A good breeder should be able to show you genetic testing proving that their dams and sires are purebred.

All of our poodles have had their DNA tested for a variety of different genetic diseases and have also had their DNA tested for the coat color, and modifying coat color. There are things that cannot be tested for at this time, and are due to 'genetic bottlenecks' that happen to all purebreds. We encourage you to thoroughly research prior to purchase, but also know we do everything available to have the healthiest, most diverse, and social pups possible.

¹ At risk means a dog does carries two copies of a variant. None of our poodles are "At Risk" or "Affected." Carrier means a dog carries only one copy of a variant, and is not at risk for developing the illness.

* We test for genetic DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy). The poodle breed is not prone to genetic DCM, but is not immune to nutritional DCM. Nutritional DCM is caused by grain-free food, which is why we do not recommend feeding it. Please be advised that our Health Guarantee does NOT cover nutritional DCM.
